Anonymous said: Great Pictures! What ruin is the one you use as your header - I have a watercolor that looks like the same location!

Thank you! It’s Rievaulx Abbey :) Please feel free to submit your watercolour, I’d love to post it!

I made a little rule with myself that I would only post Ruins that I knew the names of and could put dates to etc. But there is so much lovely photography of Ruins that I sadly can’t figure out :( So I’ve decided that from now on I’ll post/reblog even if I don’t know the details of the Ruins. And if anyone does know details about a certain photo, I’d appreciate you letting me know :D

Thank you everyone!

Love, Arianna xx

Grey Abbey, Northern Island (1193-1541)

November 2011 - Grey Abbey
Myself and other medieval students went on a field trip yesterday (2011/11/26) in the area surrounding Belfast. It was super fun! The first site was Grey Abbey, a Cistercian site built in the late 12th century. However, there were crows and small black birds circling around the abbey and us the entire time we were there. It was a bit creepy! In fact, the birds followed us around the countryside. I wonder if it was a sign… lolol
